Commercial and institutional buildings account for over a third of Canada’s primary energy consumption, which is why Casola Koppe Architects is passionate about the role architects must play in the global push toward more sustainable patterns of living. As part of their commitment to include sustainable design and energy conservation principles within all of their projects, Casola Koppe Architects is now a member of the Canadian Green Building Council and both Tony Casola and Hans Koppe are LEED® Accredited Professionals.

The first phase (tower A) will house 88 affordable housing units for Calgary Housing Corporation while tower B will provide rental units and tower C will provide units to be sold at market value. The enclosed parkade which stretches across the majority of the site, creates a landscaped podium that will provide secured daycare play areas, common outdoor space, community gardens, access to all residential units and visitor parking. The plaza will also have a multi use common play area that will support a variety of activities such as an ice rink in the winter and numerous sports activities in the summer.

The project is aiming for a Platinum Built Green designation and is being designed to a LEED Gold target designation.

Construction is expected to begin October of 2009.
